This is the upper section of a post from an old haus tamberan, the traditional ancestral worship house in the East Sepik region of Papua New Guinea.

It was found near Ambunti, on the Sepik River, Papua New Guinea

Currently displayed in Room 24, Ground Floor, British Museum

Created 1900-1950
Acquired by the British Museum in 1964
